Pregnancy brings with it a host of considerations. You may need to change your diet, or your exercise regimen, or your sleep habits. You may even need to rethink your monthly facial.
Can spa facials be dangerous for me and/or my baby?
Spa facials can be perfectly safe during pregnancy, assuming you have a qualified esthetician who is aware that you’re expecting. Be mindful of the fact that certain parts of a spa facial – extraction or an acne treatment – may be off-limits. Your skin can absorb chemicals into the bloodsteam, and certain ingredients can be harmful to a developing fetus. Common acne treatments, such as benzoyl peroxide; and anti-aging ingredients, such as retinoids, are best avoided during pregnancy.
You should also discuss with your esthetician what products and ingredients she plans to use during the facial. During pregnancy, your skin may develop sensitivities you didn’t experience before. You may also be more sensitive to certain scents. Alert your esthetician to any discomfort you may experience at any time during your facial – don’t be shy. If something doesn’t “feel right,” it probably isn’t. And it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Give yourself a spa experience at home – safely
Of course, you can pamper yourself and your skin in your own home with a Bel Mondo Bio Cellulose Facial Sheet Mask. Our masks are formulated with high quality ingredients, and are safe to use during pregnancy. So you can have a stress-free facial right at home.
As always, if you ever have any concerns about anything you use during pregnancy, you should consult with your doctor.
