We are fortunate to live in a time where there is a seemingly endless (though often expensive) variety of products and advice meant to help us stay young.
But the next time you lament the cost or the time associated with keeping your skin looking its best, consider the kind of skin care advice you may have received in the early-1900s. You may have been told to put sour milk on your face for its “whitening” properties, or “hog’s lard” to get rid of freckles. You may have even been told not to make any facial expressions at all – lest your facial muscle contractions cause wrinkles. Actually, I think we already have a “remedy” for that: it’s called Botox®.
